MobiTV Intros TV Everywhere Solution for Cable, Satellite, IPTV

Mobile entertainment company MobiTV is branching out with its own TV Everywhere solution, targeted at cable, satellite, and IPTV providers. The platform lets TV providers offer their subscribers live and on-demand viewing over computers, tablets, and other mobile devices.

MobiTV is pitching benefits such as reduced time to market and lower costs versus a home-grown solution, and 24/7 support from its network operations center. It's also promising seamless integration with a TV provider's existing infrastructure and back-end systems.

The solution supports over 375 types of mobile devices, ingests and encodes both live and DRM-protected on-demand content, and comes with a channel guide with remote DVR features. Policy management features give operators granular control over access, while a single sign-on system makes managing multiple tiered packages easier.

"TV service providers need a cost-effective solution to meet consumer demand for seamless authenticated access to content anytime, anywhere, and on any device," says MobiTV co-founder and president Paul Scanlan. "By pre-packaging all the necessary components -- content ingestion, technology platform, device integration and DRM support -- we've taken what's typically a very complex and expensive project for a TV operator and made it simple, affordable, and easy to launch."
