MTV Launches

MTV's SonicNet.com (http://www.sonicnet.com), an Internet radio offering, announced that it launched "MTV's Total Request Live" radio station.

"Total Request Live" radio allows listeners to hear the latest top ten songs from TRL, as well as TRL hits from the recent past. Radio SonicNet also lets fans vote along with TRL's TV and online audiences.

Since its inception 18 ago, TRL has become one of the biggest hits on MTV. TRL's format is simple: host Carson Daly counts down the top 10 videos everyday, based on the fans' online and phone voting. It has made hits out of improbable artists like Britney Spears and Limp Bizkit.

SonicNet is part of the MTVi Group, a unit of MTV Networks, which in turn is part of Viacom. MTVi recently announced it had filed for an IPO.
