The New Miwich and Resi Media Powerhouse Partnership: A Q&A With Matthew Smith of Resi Media

Resi has appointed Midwich as its U.S. distribution partner, reinforcing both companies' commitment to expanding commercial reach and delivering greater value to systems integrators and resellers nationwide. The partnership provides Resi partners with enhanced access to complementary technologies, financing options, and an expanded portfolio of solutions to better serve their customers. Additionally, Resi’s industry-leading video delivery technology is now available to Midwich and its network.

Resi has established itself as a trusted provider of streaming and video delivery solutions, where its patented Resilient Streaming Protocol (RSP) and cloud-based platform help organizations deliver reliable, high-quality live and on-demand video experiences. Through Midwich's value-added distribution model, Resi partners will now have access to a broader ecosystem of technologies, including cameras, networking solutions, storage, audio systems, displays, and production equipment.

What are some of the key elements of Midwich and Resi Media’s technologies and offerings that make this new strategic distribution partnership especially complementary?

At its core, this partnership brings together the physical hardware layer of live production with the underlying software and protocol engine required to reliably transport that media. Midwich brings a comprehensive professional AV hardware ecosystem, spanning everything from PTZ and broadcast cameras to switching infrastructure, audio processing, and commercial display systems. Resi provides a specialized video delivery platform that includes our dedicated hardware encoders and decoders, as well as our patented Resilient Streaming Protocol (RSP).

Historically, systems integrators have had to stitch together fragmented hardware and streaming components from multiple vendors, creating integration friction and potential failure points. By bringing Resi into Midwich’s single-source distribution network, integrators gain access to complete, pre-validated, end-to-end broadcast pipelines. It allows channel partners to pair high-performance capture and display gear directly with a transmission platform designed specifically to guarantee video delivery over erratic network environments.

Resi and Midwich will collaborate on strategic go-to-market initiatives designed to accelerate adoption in new industries and create additional growth opportunities for channel partners. What are some of the new industries being considered for new business opportunities?

While Resi has established a leadership position in the house of worship space, the technical challenges of live video delivery aren’t unique to faith-based organizations. Through our partnership with Midwich, we’re actively expanding into high-stakes commercial verticals, including higher education, corporate enterprise, government, and live entertainment venues.

These sectors share a common vulnerability because they operate in mission-critical environments where stream failure introduces severe operational or reputational risk. Whether it’s a university broadcasting a commencement ceremony, a corporation running a global all-hands meeting, or a municipality streaming a city council hearing, these organizations regularly push high-bitrate video over variable, congested network infrastructure. Priority is being placed on environments where physical venue congestion or unmanaged networks threaten broadcast stability and integrators need a proven, fault-tolerant solution.

How does Resi’s patented Resilient Streaming Protocol (RSP) work with Midwich’s suite of professional AV solutions to create a strong single-source pipeline?

A complete streaming pipeline requires two distinct elements working in tandem: high-quality signal acquisition on the front end paired with a rock-solid transmission architecture underneath. Midwich hardware manages signal capture, routing, and endpoint display processing. Inside that broader infrastructure, Resi’s dedicated hardware encoders handle the local encoding, while our decoders manage multisite destination playback, all linked by our RSP.

Instead of relying on continuous, real-time packet delivery over unmanaged routes, which is inherently prone to dropping frames when local networks fluctuate, RSP buffers and verifies video data frame-by-frame before transmission. By integrating Resi’s hardware encoders and decoders directly into Midwich-supplied racks and networking gear, integrators get a streamlined deployment process with pre-tested hardware compatibility, significantly reducing installation time and eliminating the technical friction usually associated with multi-vendor streaming setups.

Could you discuss some reasons why traditional streaming protocols buckle under live venue traffic, and how this new single-source pipeline will help fix these issues?

Traditional streaming protocols like RTMP were engineered for stable, wired network conditions. They rely on real-time packet delivery with minimal local caching. In a live venue environment, the moment thousands of attendees walk through the doors and connect their devices to local cell towers or guest Wi-Fi, upload pipelines become heavily congested. Under traditional protocols, if a network experiences a temporary bandwidth dip, packet loss, or high jitter, the encoder simply drops the missing frames to maintain real-time delivery. These conditions often exist even on high-bandwidth and dedicated networks. To the end viewer, that manifests as stuttering, audio sync drift, or a total stream crash.

Resi’s RSP addresses this by treating stream transmission as an error-checked data transfer rather than a fragile real-time feed. Resi encoders first write video data to a local hardware buffer, verifying that every frame is transmitted completely before clearing it. If local venue traffic spikes and bandwidth plummets, RSP holds the data in its local hardware memory and retransmits any lost packets seamlessly once the pipeline recovers, ensuring zero data loss and uninterrupted stream playback at the destination

In what ways will Resi partners benefit from Midwich's value-added distribution model? What are some of the broader ecosystems of technologies that Resi partners will have access to?

Through Midwich’s value-added distribution model, existing Resi partners gain access to far more than just streamlined procurement. They benefit from Midwich’s dedicated technical design support through Midwich Plus, flexible commercial financing options, and specialized system engineering resources that help scale deployment sizes.
