Haivision Launches Haivision Video Cloud, Live and On-Demand OVP

NAB means big product announcements, and one of the biggest this year is from Haivision. The video streaming and encoding company is launching Haivision Video Cloud, an online video platform that offers a unified system for live and on-demand video.

Haivision Video Cloud is designed be both thorough and simple. At the heart is its Video Content Management System (VCMS), which lets customers automate content ingestion and publishing. The VCMS works with a customer's established workflow, and pulls together transcoding, media management, and analytics, offering access to all controls from one area. The VCMS can also handle both live and on-demand video, giving customers one integrated tool for all their footage

Other components of the OVP include transcoding (with support for adaptive streaming and round-the-clock live content), the ability to make video microsites (using Haivision Site Builder), and Akamai storage and distribution. Haivision says that published content is viewable on any device.

For live video, Haivision can input from most third-party encoders or media systems, and, of course, from Haivision's KulaByte, Makito, and Viper encoders.

"There's a lot of confusion and uncertainty for companies that are trying to deliver online video right now. They're dealing with too many moving parts from different vendors and trying to stitch it all together and it's a massive pain point," says Chance Mason, executive vice president of Haivision's Internet Media division. "We're turning that complexity around by giving companies a much easier way to get their video in the cloud, with everything they need in a unified, hassle-free package."

With its unified OVP, Haivision wants to appeal to customers overwhelmed by having to work with multiple vendors to create a system that streams live and on-demand video internally or to outside customers. Haivision Video Cloud will be on display at booth SL6605 during next week's NAB show.
