Sony Debuts Simple Video Editor for Those Who Hate Editing

Sony has gotten the message that home users don't want to spend a lot of time editing their videos. That's why the company today introduced Sony MoviEZ HD, a program that imports photos and videos, letting users turn them into mini-movies in three steps.

To create an edited movie with MoviEZ HD, users select the photos and videos they want to use, choose one of the ten playback styles, and add the soundtrack of their choice. The software does the rest, adding zooms, pans, and transitions.

The styles available reflect the type of video being created. Users can choose Classic Vanilla or ones designed for sports or action videos, for example.

Other features let users choose just the section of a song they want to use for a soundtrack, preview at full-screen, add voiceovers and captions, and adjust brightness.

Naturally, the program includes sharing features. Videos can be shared on Facebook and YouTube, or burned to a DVD. They can also be exported to play on iOS and Android portables.

"People who are seeking an effortless movie creation experience need look no further than MoviEZ HD," says Dave Chaimson, vice president of global marketing for Sony Creative Software. "MoviEZ HD is a streamlined video creation program with an emphasis on ease-of-use-perfect for casual computer users who want to create and post videos fast."

MoviEZ HD lists for $49.95 and works on Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, and XP SP2 systems.
