Streambox and Blackmagic Design in Cooperation to Provide Low Cost End-to End Software-based HD Video over IP Solution

Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder & Monitor with Streambox Hybrid HD/SD Software Encoder and Streambox HD Media Player enables media centric organization to capture & playout HDMI or HD-SDI video for a high quality video transport

Seattle, WA(20 Feb 2013)

Streambox, Inc. today announced a cooperation with Blackmagic Design to provide a complete low cost, end-to-end, software-based, professional quality, live HD video transport solution using a Mac OSX laptop/Mac Mini, HDMI or SDI camera, and UltraStudio Mini Recorder. The solution enables anyone in the field to become mobile by allowing users to capture and stream 1080i HD or SD video over low data-rate IP connections.

The workflow begins with HDMI or HD-SDI video input from the camera to an UltraStudio Mini Recorder, using a Thunderbolt connection to Apple notebook or Mac Mini desktop. The Streambox Hybrid HD/SD Software will encode the video and the user will have options to transmit using Streambox-exclusive, Low Delay Multi-Path technology (LDMP is a reliable protocol that facilitates high quality, low latency video over multiple IP networks). Some options include transporting live video by bonding several 3G/4G/LTE modems, Wi-Fi, DSL, cable modems and satellite terminals such as Inmarsat BGAN or ViaSat. At the receiving end, the video can be sent to a dedicated Streambox HD decoder, Enterprise Server or Streambox Media Player.

Streambox also announced a low cost live video play-out solution using a software-based Streambox Media Player Pro, installed on a Mac Mini or Apple notebook in combination with a Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Monitor to convert incoming video into HD-SDI or HDMI output streams. Streambox Media Player Pro provides a full range of professional broadcast features, such as 1080i or 720p upconvert, NTSC or PAL frame rate transcoding and teleprompter modes.

Blackmagic UltraStudio Mini Recorder is also supported by OSX version of StreamboxME Pro for low cost video encoding and newsgathering applications available as a cloud service or direct to decoder applications.

Until now, capturing high-quality video on-the-go has been limited to clunky hard-to-maneuver third party products. This solution now provides users with a high quality, low cost, complete software-based, portable solution for live HD video. Streambox Hybrid HD/SD Encoder, StreamboxME Pro and Streambox Media Player Pro with Blackmagic UltraStudio Pro are immediately available from Streambox web site.
