FreeWheel Announces Multi-Year Digital and Mobile Ad Management Agreement with NBCUniversal

Video technology company to provide ad serving capabilities for digital, on-demand and live video content across various NBCUniversal properties.

SAN MATEO, California(02 Apr 2012)

FreeWheel, the video technology company serving enterprise-class entertainment companies, today announced that it has signed a multi-year agreement with NBCUniversal to deploy FreeWheel’s Monetization Rights Management®(MRM) system to serve ads across a select group of NBCUniversal’s network and cable digital properties, including NBC.comNBCSports.comCNBC.comUSANetwork.comBravoTV.comTelemundo.com, and others.

Under the agreement, FreeWheel’s MRM will also be deployed on NBCOlympics.com in connection with NBC’s coverage of the 2012 Summer Games.

“We are committed to ensuring our audiences are getting positive brand experiences wherever they tune in, whether at home or through the complementary digital and mobile environments,” said Peter Naylor, executive vice president of digital media sales, NBCUniversal. “To that end, FreeWheel’s best-in-class technology enables us to effectively manage the ad rights and ad delivery processes and execute our advertisers’ orders across our owned and operated properties and various syndication partner sites.”

FreeWheel’s MRM will allow NBCUniversal to provide clients with dynamic, customizable advertiser experiences online and on emerging platforms.  For example, advertisers will be able to take advantage of converged ad campaigns across the various devices where NBCUniversal video content is available and be ensured that specialized ad contracts for sponsorships and exclusivities are honored.

MRM’s powerful sales rights management and video ad serving technology manages advertiser conflicts and provides the scale required to support both video-on-demand and TV Everywhere initiatives. Through this product, NBCUniversal will be able to maximize the yield of video views of their short form, full episode, and mobile video content across their owned and operated digital properties, as well as on their mobile applications and syndication partner sites.

“We are honored to be able to work with NBCUniversal, one of the largest media and entertainment companies in the world,” said Doug Knopper, co-CEO of FreeWheel. “This agreement is further validation of MRM as the standard in video ad management technology.”
