Video Tech Company Dotstudioz Launches Distribution Platform

Dotstudioz, an entertainment technology company founded in 2010, is unveiling its marquee product today: DotstudioPro, a software-as-a-service platform for video distribution and monetization. Prior to this, the work-in-progress early version of the platform was only available to select enterprise clients.

Dotstudioz says it's devoted to the creative community, and this platform aims to let creatives control how they share and profit from their work.

The platform is built to grow with customers as their videos find an audience. The dashboard can work with one video or a network full of programming. At launch, customers can distribute videos to template-created microsites or to Facebook. Improvements in development will offer Roku, connected TV, and mobile device distribution, as well.

The free version of DotstudioPro lets customers upload and manage two movies per month. That includes 5GB of storage and 1TB of delivery bandwidth. Dotstudioz makes money on transaction fees (it takes a portion of sales, which must be $.99 or more per movie), on ads (the company takes 40 percent of revenue from its ad server), and by selling space for additional movie hosting or delivery bandwidth. Customers can use geoblocking and paywalls to restrict access, Other tools let them track performance analytics and engage with viewers.

The company is partnering with Highwinds, which will handle video distribution.

In December 2013, Dotstudioz raised $830,000 in seed funding from angel investors. It used the money to create a scalable version of the platform with monetization and distribution abilities.
