Adobe Launches Creative Cloud for Subscription Access

Using Adobe's line of professional creative tools no longer means paying a hefty fee upfront. Today, Adobe is launching Creative Cloud, a subscription cloud-based offering for Creative Suite 6 applications.

The service costs $49.99 per month with a one-year commitment, or $74.99 with a month-to-month membership. Existing CS3, CS4, CS4, and CS5.5 users can try Creative Cloud for an introductory price of $29.99 per month. Members download the applications they want to their desktops, so they don't actually use the tools in the cloud. They'll need to touch base with the online service once every 30 days to verify membership. The applications will notify users when it's time to go online.

Besides the applications, Creative Cloud offers subscribers 20GB of online storage for collaborating or exchanging files between computers. Memberships are available for Windows and Macintosh computers. Members will also get access to two HTML5 tools: Adobe Muse and Adobe Edge Preview. Muse lets designers create HTML5 sites without writing code, while Edge Preview creates HTML5 animations. Creative Cloud will integrate with Adobe's existing tablet applications.
