RCS and Activate Partner to Create iSelector

RCS (www.rcsworks.com) announced that it has teamed up with Activate ( www.activate.com) as its streaming partner in the rollout of its newest product and service, iSelector. The iSelector, which is designed to help terrestrial stations take their signal online, includes a feature which allows users to customize the sound of the station by rating songs and artists as "more," "less" or "not at all."

RCS's original Selector was invented in 1979, and the company states that it is now used in more than 85 percent of all radio stations in America to schedule their programming. RCS hopes that the iSelector product will allow a station to tailor its programming more efficiently to the listeners by making use of its listener's ratings.

The iSelector stream from Activate also provides the station ad insertion technology and shows the sponsor's banner synchronized to the audio commercial. The iSelector also displays each CD cover while the song plays, allowing users to purchase the CD with a click.

"Listeners aren't bothered with hard to use or complicated interfaces," says Philippe Generali, RCS president. "We have designed a product that complies with U.S. copyright requirements but still gives the station a competitive advantage on the Internet. Plus, having Activate as our partners in this venture provides a solid backbone for the technical integrity and streaming power for all iSelector stations."
