Honda to Use Vine Videos for Halloween Trick-or-Treating
What can you do with a six-second video? The clever marketers at Honda know that six seconds is enough time to generate a lot of good publicity.
This Halloween, the auto maker is letting anyone trick-or-treat with it over Twitter. All people need to do is tweet a picture of themselves in costume to @Honda and use the hashtag #TreatPromo. Honda will then respond with a link to a coupon for a free box of Mike and Ike candy, as well as a link to a Halloween-themed Vine video.
For the campaign, Honda is creating five videos of the CR-V opening up when trick-or-treaters come calling.
To spread the word, Honda will promote the campaign on Twitter using promoted tweets with video cards. Also, both Honda and Mike and Ike will let fans know via Twitter and Facebook.
"In the spirit of Halloween, we wanted a simple and unique way to show some appreciation to our fans. Innovation is at the heart of our brand. Why not look at innovating something as fun as trick-or-treating?" asks Tom Peyton, assistant vice president of advertising and marketing at Honda.
Honda is no stranger to clever and funny Vine video marketing. The company regularly hires top Vine stars to create branded videos. Also, for its 2013 Summer Clearance sales event, it created humorous personal response Vine videos to fan questions.
