Online video platform and video site builder VidCaster announced today the release of a paywall feature to allow video content publishers to charge a one-time or recurring fee for viewers to access premium video content.
"VidCaster already has a world-class integration with ad serving partners and a paywall is a natural extension to support the monetization goals of content producers," said VidCaster CEO and Co-Founder Kieran Farr.
"Now is the time for premium content creators to take control of their destiny by turning their audiences into paying customers," explains Farr. "Viewers are showing a high willingness to pay for content they find valuable; we have seen this in the incredible support for independent performers such as Louis C.K. who are redefining video distribution by going direct to viewers."
The VidCaster paywall feature is designed to be a quick and easy add-on for video producers to get started. Content publishers can choose from a one-time or repeating subscription model and set custom pricing terms.
Very unique to the release is the ability to offer "hybrid" paywall sites that feature both free-to-play and premium paywall content in one shared video portal. This hybrid approach has proven to be extremely successful for private beta testers of VidCaster's paywall feature.
Barry Braun, President of X.CELERATED (XR) Motorsports Marketing and Multimedia Agency, leveraged VidCaster's beta paywall technologies to launch IMCAonDEMAND.com, an on-demand video portal created in partnership with the International Motor Contest Association (IMCA). They have been blown away by the positive response from viewers. "We were surprised at the high subscription conversion rate -- in just a few short weeks we have enough revenue and subscribers to support the hire of a full-time staff member to manage this operation," said Braun.
The newly released paywall solution leverages VidCaster's powerful HTML5-compliant video delivery infrastructure, enabling viewers using Android and iOS powered smart-phones and tablets to subscribe and view paywall content in addition to desktops, laptops and smart TVs such as Google TV (via Chrome browser) and Apple TV (via Airplay).
The VidCaster paywall feature pays publishers directly for their earnings minus a small share of subscription revenue for transactions. The feature is available on VidCaster Gold plans and above. To get started and learn more visit http://www.vidcaster.com.
