StreamElements Launches SE.Pay - Moving Streamer Tipping Beyond PayPal, Sets the Stage for International Payment Portal

With tipping market on pace to reach $222 million in 2019, new payment portal brings seamless credit card tipping with lower transaction fees for millions of streamers

Palo Alto, CA(04 Oct 2018)

StreamElements, the live streaming production platform used by over 150K live streamers on Twitch and YouTube, today announced the launch of its new streamer payment service, SE.Pay. This new payment service is the first payments portal specifically designed for live streamers that allows credit cards to be used for tipping with the same ease, security, and seamless transaction experience as major e-commerce platforms. SE.Pay also features the lowest transaction fees on the market. Finally, StreamElements protects streamers and their revenue by providing advanced chargeback and fraud detection.

Currently, for viewers to tip their favorite streamers, they’re required to open a PayPal account, and recent studies show that only 30% of US Consumers use PayPal. While there are third party work-arounds to access tipping via credit card, the process requires a lengthy application and transaction process that creates significant friction both for viewers and streamers. Starting today, any US-based streamer who wants to accept tips via credit card, can simply sign up for SE.Pay through StreamElements and instantly start receiving and cashing out tips.

“The growth of live streaming and its maturation into a multi-million dollar industry for streamers caught many by surprise and, as a result, much of its infrastructure has not kept pace,”  said Doron Nir, CEO of StreamElements. “In particular, the process for accepting tips in all forms other than PayPal is so painful that many streamers are leaving significant money on the table. StreamElements is now one of the only streamer tool sets that allows creators to not only create professionally produced, beautiful streams, but also generate significantly more revenue than was ever possible before SE.Pay.”

SE.Pay from StreamElements features:

  • Extra fraud protection and chargeback solutions, powered by Adyen - ensuring streamers never have to worry about the security of their accounts or the ability to collect on tips.

  • Automatic payment - with many payment systems, streamers need to wade through a manual process that can take days or weeks before they can access the funds they earn today. With SE.Pay, any tips in your account can be accessed instantly with the click of a button, with no human intervention required, or paid out at a set day and time.

While the initial launch of SE.Pay focuses on US streamers, the payments portal will expand globally in the weeks that follow. The next major market to receive SE.Pay will be the European Union, with market-specific features that allow streamers to easily comply with EU tax regulations. South American and Asian market access to SE.Pay is currently slated for 2019.

StreamElements’ announcement of SE.Pay follows the announcement of other recently launched and updated features including:

  • Updated Chatbot for Twitch and YouTube Live that can moderate chat in several new languages including: German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish and Turkish.

  • A new profanity filter introduced earlier this year, developed to give creators powerful capabilities for moderating conversations.

  • Customized reporting tools and powerful production tools like motion graphics for more professional-looking themes.

YouTube and Twitch streamers can sign up for the free tools at streamelements.com.
