ViewCast to Show Live HD Closed Captioning at NAB
Many captioning solutions are sure to be on display at the upcoming NAB conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, and one of the most impressive displays could be in the ViewCast booth. Broadcast and mobile video delivery company ViewCast has announced that it will demo live HD closed captioning using the Niagara 9100-4D running Niagara SCX streaming software with the latest updates. ViewCast calls the captioning an industry first.
"HD closed captioning is an important feature for many of our customers, especially those in the broadcast and government segments," says Mike Galli, vice president of marketing at ViewCast. "The closed captioning demo at NAB is a good example of what they expect from us as a key supplier of live streaming systems and capture cards."
ViewCast introduced the Niagara 9100-4D system in November, 2012, at the Content and Communications World expo in New York City. This high-density encoding platform can handle four HD SDI inputs at one time.
"ViewCast Niagara systems rely on our Osprey capture cards and therefore we are able to get new features like 708 closed captioning integrated and made available much faster than the competition," says Adrian Giuhat, ViewCast's CTO. "Our systems engineers work closely with our Osprey driver engineers, allowing for fast integration and quick troubleshooting."
Also at NAB, ViewCast will debut the Osprey 210e, the newest addition to its capture card line. It offers a Microsoft DirectShow interface and high reliability.
Publishers are getting creative in how they stream live events, but few are ready for upcoming captioning requirements.
