Dish Network Gains HBO Go and Max Go

Don't cut that cord, says Dish Network. In an effort to fight off streaming-only competition, satellite TV service Dish Network announced that HBO and Cinemax subscribers will now be able to access titles from those channels through DishOnline.com. Most content is available in high-definition, says Dish, and customers can stream more than 1,800 titles. Subscribers can access the same content by going through either HBOGo.com or MaxGo.com.

Making a jab at the cable and satellite company's biggest online competitor, Dish notes that subscribers will find titles at DishOnline.com that aren't available from Netflix's streaming service. Recent movies and series available include Avatar, The Hangover, Up In The Air, Boardwalk Empire, and True Blood.

Subscribers will be able to access streamed content at any time and from any U.S. location. A broadband connection is required.

"Dish Network is thrilled to be working with HBO to bring this broad collection of top-billed content to our customers for instant access at DishOnline.com," says Dave Shull, senior vice president of programming for Dish Network. "Dish Network customers with an HBO or Cinemax subscription can also get new series titles after their premiere - plus bonus content including interviews, recaps, and behind-the-scenes extras - none of which are available through Netflix's online service."
