Get Adobe Flash Media Server in the Cloud with MediaPlatform

Webcasting software and media management provider MediaPlatform has announced that it now supports Adobe Flash Media Server in the cloud. That means enterprises don't need to install and license Flash Media Server on-premises to deliver application-level multicast with synchronous audio and video on the Adobe Flash platform.

Rich media for enterprise is more cost-effective with application-level multicast, as enterprises can reach a broad audience without upgrading all their network routers or adding bandwidth to every location.

By using Adobe Flash Media Server in the cloud, enterprises can reach viewers who are behind a shared Internet connection without installing new hardware or software. Cloud-based audio and video can stream behind firewalls, for example, using secure peer-assisted delivery.

Adobe began offering Flash Media Server on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) in December, a solution that MediaPlatform offers to clients as part of its Webcaster enterprise video platform.

"WebCaster's support for Flash Media Server in the cloud portends new capabilities in the broader unified communications ecosystems, especially as it relates to rich media," says Greg Pulier, founder and president of MediaPlatform.  "Coupled with WebCaster, Flash Media Server in the cloud is a game changer because it powers huge increases in network efficiency while cutting system management, implementation, maintenance and licensing costs."
