Ninth House Network to Aid BT with E-Learning

Ninth House Network (www.ninthhouse.com), an online management training company, announced it has signed a deal with British Telecommunications (BT) to deliver an e-learning solution for BT employees.

BT indicated that the deal represents a step toward its goal of using knowledge management practices to invest in employees and to help exploit the opportunities presented by new broadband technologies.

BT chose Ninth House Network to help provide BT managers with access to a network of management programs and the company will help to create a custom broadband awareness program for 30,000 managers.

"I want to see a BT where all of our people are actively engaged in online learning," said Sir Peter Bonfield, chief executive at BT in a statement. "We are a knowledge company working in a knowledge economy, and we need to deploy the state of the art technology to give our people the learning edge we need."

According to the company, BT is facing a structural transformation after announcing last year that it will re-group its activities into new, self-contained businesses that will enable greater management focus. The company has formed the BT Academy to provide company-wide learning initiatives that support BT's key business issues, and the Ninth House Network will be participating in the Academy.

"This partnership is the largest Ninth House Network deployment in Europe to date," said Jeff Snipes, president and CEO of Ninth House Network in a statement. "We're excited to be providing learning content to one of the largest private-sector companies in Europe, and we welcome the opportunity to create a program about broadband as this delivery medium changes the shape of the communications industry."
