Metricom and PacketVideo Partner

PacketVideo (http://www.packetvideo.com) announced that it is working with Metricom ( http://www.ricochet.com) to develop content and applications for mobile, personal digital assistants and laptops.

The companies say they want to deliver content like news, sports, weather, and even audio and video.

"The combination of Ricochet's unique ability to address the challenge of delivering broadband through wireless networks and PacketVideo's dynamic network scaling and error resilience capabilities offer a powerful solution for delivering content and interactive applications wirelessly," " said John Wernke, senior vice president, Marketing and Sales of Metricom.

Metricom and PacketVideo will initially test the wireless video streaming technology in three U.S markets: San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and Seattle. The companies are planning to work collectively over the next several months to optimize PacketVideo's technology for use on Metricom's Ricochet network.
