Excite@Home Adds Audio and Video to Excite Clubs

Excite@Home has started allowing audio and videofiles into its Excite Clubs (http://clubs.excite.com) site.

Currently, there are over 150,000 communities in Excite Clubs. The integration of audio and video files is a long overdue step in letting people upload and share multimedia.

"With the ability to share video and audio files with others," said Eric Jorgensen, vice president and general manager for Excite@Home Communities, "users can watch a clip of the niece they haven't seen in months or listen topersonalized instructional voice message of how to make their mom's famousspaghetti sauce."

Consumers can store up to 80 megabytes of audio and video files and the service supports Windows Media, Real and Quick Time.

A few days ago Excite@Home unveiled a new search service called "Excite Precision Search" (http://search.excite.com) that can find audio, video, text graphics and more.

Excite's Audio/Video index includes files using AVI, MIDI, MPEG,MP3, Real, QuickTime and WAV.
