Global Crossing Offers Webcast Service

Global Crossing announced it is offering real-time and on-demand Internet broadcasts of audio and video conference calls.

The conference Webcast service lets businesses broadcast meetings or conferences and was developed with Akamai.

Akamai, in fact, made a big push into the conference-casting space a few weeks back.

Webcasts can be live, then archived for later retrieval. Online reports are available which provide details about past and future Webcast reservations.

"With Webcast, customers will easily be able to increase the reach of their meetings," said Global Crossing Conferencing President, Don Poulter. "Any participant with a personal computer, a streaming media player, an Internet connection and a Web browser can participate in a Webcast."

"It can be used for quarterly earnings releases, product launch announcements, CEO messages, employee training and customer outreach," said Poulter. "In short, Webcast can help almost any business manage its conferencing and communication needs more efficiently."

Global Crossing is one of the biggest providers of teleconferences (http://www.themeetingson.com).
