Kasenna Releases MediaBase 4.0 for Solaris

Kasenna (http://www.kasenna.com) announced MediaBase 4.0 for the Solaris operating system today. Kasenna is a spin-off of SGI.

Kasenna MediaBase is an infrastructure platform for managing video over broadband networks. It works with MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP3 and Quicktime 4.0 and handles third party servers like RealVideo.

"Companies serious about building commercial-grade streaming mediaservices for media commerce have had to build their own software to manage,distribute and deliver their assets," said Tom Engdahl, President and CEO ofKasenna. "Kasenna MediaBase gives Sun Microsystems' customers a comprehensiveplatform that can enable a faster, less-expensive rollout out of theirbroadband and media commerce plans."

Kasenna says MediaBase is currently being used by over 1000 customers Worldwide on more than 1,300 servers.
