Adobe Adds Over 100,000 4K Video Stock Assets to Library
Good news for any director or brand that wants to stream a sharper image to viewers: Adobe announced that it has added over 100,000 4K video clips to its Adobe Stock service. That's on top of the over 1 million clips and 45 million images it already has.
Adobe's 4K clips go for a reasonable $199 each and HD versions of the same clips go fro $79. Creative Cloud subscribers can search for them within their favorite apps: Just use the Libraries panel within Premiere Pro CC and After Effects CC, and drag 4K clips right into your open projects. You can also find the clips at stock.adobe.com.
Why go 4K? In a blog post about the announcement, Adobe notes that it's worth buying ultra HD stock even if your final product will be in HD or 2K. That's because with its heightened image detail, 4K gives editors options they don't have with lower res clips. You can crop or reframe part of the video, for example. You can also pan around an image or add camera moves and effects. Use 4K and bring out your creative abilities.
Adobe assures buyers that all of its 4K clips were actually shot in 4K. In the case of computer-generated video, it was rendered in 4K. There's no upscaling going on here.
At its Adobe Max conference in October 2015, Adobe announced it would add video to its stock service.
