Avid Improves iPad Video Editing with Avid Studio Update

Professional-quality video editing came to the Apple iPad when Avid introduced the Avid Studio app in February of this year. Now, Avid is greatly improving the experience with the Avid Studio 1.1 update.

The original app got high marks for its precise editing controls, combined storyboard and timeline interface, picture-in-picture effects, and multiple audio tracks. Here's what the improved version adds:

Voiceovers: Editors can now add documentary-style voiceover narration directly to videos or slideshows.

Transitions: The upgrade offers 14 new transitions, including dissolves, fades, and more.

Gestures: This version adds in more gestures for easy editing. Editors can now advance frame-by-frame or 10-by-10 frames by using one-finger or two-finger swipes on the preview. Additionally, swiping down now sets an in-point and swing up sets an out-point.

Titles: Titles can now be more than one line.

Split Audio and Video: As with desktop editors, audio can now be separated from the video track, so that each can be edited separately.

Trimmer: The Trimmer has been redesigned for ease-of-use.

Performance: Plus, there's an assortment of stability improvements, so the app is less likely to crash on you.

When the app first launched, Avid set the price at $4.99 as an introductory offer. Good news: the price is still $4.99. For video editors, this is one of the best deals going.
