Teradek Announces VidiU Pro for High-Bandwidth Streaming

Article Featured Image

Getting a jump on IBC news, Teradek today announced the release of the VidiU Pro, the more robust companion to its VidiU and VidiU Mini on-camera encoding and uploading devices. With the VidiU Pro, Teradek promises enhanced Wi-Fi, additional streaming options, and built-in recording.

The VidiU Pro comes with access to ShareLink, a Teradek subscription offering that binds up to four network interfaces together as a single link to stream high-definition video. ShareLink can combine Ethernet, Wi-Fi, a USB modem, and up to four iPhones. ShareLink subscriptions are available through the VidiU iOS and Android app or my.Teradek.com.

Teradek has given the VidiU Pro a faster network processor and dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi. It includes the same Li-Ion battery as the other VidiU models, rated for over two hours of operation, and has an HDMI input and Bluetooth. It's compatible with several streaming platforms, including Ustream, Livestream, Twitch, and YouTube Live, and works with platforms such as Wowza Streaming Server using RTMP.

The included SD card slot lets videographers record H.264 files while they stream. See the VidiU Pro product page for full specs.

The VidiU Pro lists for $999 and is available for pre-order. Teradek says to allow three to four weeks for arrival. Those interested can see it at IBC starting September 11 at stand #E55 in Hall 11.
