Sonic Foundry Starts New Services Division

Sonic Foundry (www.sonicfoundry.com) announced Monday that it was opening a new media services division. This comes on the heels of its recent acquisition of imaging company, International Image in August.

The company says its Sonic Foundry's Media Services Division will offer digitization, management, and delivery solutions for content companies. Aside from its encoding services, it will also handle content distribution, consulting and implementation. Part of its strategy is to focus on the global market by providing international format conversions for media.

Sonic Foundry has been making partnering with companies like Sony, MediaBay and the Olympic committee recently, in both webcasting and encoding deals.

In August, Sonic Foundry announced the completion of its acquisition of International Image and laid off some staffers in its Santa Monica offices. Most of those affected were from the webcasting department, along with some administrative staff.

Chief Executive Offier, Rimas Buinevicius, said that the company is now ready to deliver content management solutions to customers worldwide. "We realize that the future lies within the ability to re-purpose and distribute content for uses on a global level," he said. "Our software, services, systems and expertise provide the knowledge, the experience, the quality, and the trust needed in this time of new and emerging technologies."
