PlayOn, Vimeo, and Justin.tv Add Consumer Offerings

The additions to consumer online video options are coming fast and furious today. PlayOn, a Windows program that streams video from Hulu, Netflix, and more, announced support for NFL Rewind. This follows recent additions of TBS, BET, Nickelodeon, and PBS Kids.

PlayOn streams video through a user's home computer, then to the living room through a game console or Google TV, or to a mobile device. Other PlayOn content options include YouTube, Comedy Central, CNN, CBS, Fox, MTV, VH1, and ESPN3.

Video-sharing site Vimeo wants to free its viewers from their computers. It just launched a couch mode that lets viewers sit back and watch queues of videos. Couch mode works with Google TV, but it doesn't work with Firefox or Internet Explorer. Try it and you'll get a message that the "experimental project" only works with Chrome and Safari.

Finally, live streaming service Justin.tv has launched a browser app. While Justin.tv's streams are already playable through a browser, the app lets viewers open a small viewing window for live streams, then continue to surf other sites while they're viewing  a show. The app will be available in the Conduit App Marketplace.

"Our goal is to connect the world through live video," says Michael Seibel, co-founder and CEO of Justin.tv. "The new browser app ensures that our users can interact with Justin.tv no matter where they are on the Web and allows us to reach Conduit's network of more than 170 million users."
