NewZing Launches Audio and Video Synchronization Product

NewZing (www.newzing.com), a Palo Alto-Calif. based company, announced the beta availability of its SynchroMedia product offering at Demo 2001 conference in Phoenix, AZ.

SynchroMedia is a Web-based application that enables content providers to create interactive, contextually sensitive experiences and synchronize them to video. The company says that advertising, commerce, content, graphics and animation can be synchronized with video or audio and be delivered across multiple platforms simultaneously.

"SynchroMedia represents a new paradigm for the presentation of video and audio synchronized to content," said Nicholas Maier, CEO of NewZing. "Now you can synchronize video and audio with virtually any content, anywhere in the world, at any time. We expect SynchroMedia to enable an explosion of new advertising, commerce, and contextual content opportunities leveraged by combining the power of video with the capabilities of the Web."

SynchroMedia supports all major media players, including Real, Microsoft Windows Media and QuickTime.

According to Chris Shipley, executive producer of DEMO 2001, "SynchroMedia is a breakthrough for interactive television producers. It contextually links content commerce and advertising with streaming media and allows these opportunities to be distributed simultaneously over multiple delivery platforms. This opens up a whole new horizon of consumer engagement and monetization by combining the power of video with the capabilities of the Web."

NewZing closed a series A financing round of $5.25 million in January, which was led by Softbank Venture Capital and included Primedia Ventures of New York City.
