Netgear Intros NeoTV Pro, Includes Wireless Display Support

Netgear announced the NeoTV Pro today, a set-top box that goes even farther in bridging the television and computer. While the NeoTV Pro can work as a standard set-top box, streaming video and audio from Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, Pandora, and more, it also lets users deliver any online stream to their televisions.

That's because the NeoTV Pro includes wireless display support using Intel Wireless Display (WiDi). That allows people with WiDi-enabled computers to stream any type of content to their TV screen.

Specs for this NeoTV include b/g/n Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port. It supports 1080p video and 5.1 Dolby Digital Plus audio. Owners can download free Apple iOS or Google Android apps to turn their portable devices into remote controls.

With the summer Olympics almost here, Netgear is hoping people will want to stream online-only coverage to their televisions using WiDi.

"All 32 events of the upcoming summer Olympics in London will be streamed live on nbcolympics.com. With the NeoTV Pro Streaming Player and a laptop supporting Intel WiDi, consumers can watch Michael Phelps swim or Usain Bolt sprint on a big screen TV, streamed directly from the Internet," says Damir Skripic, product line manager for connected entertainment at Netgear.

The NeoTV Pro is available now for $69.99.
