NCAA Scores with Thought Equity

The National College Athletic Association (NCAA) has opted to continue working with Thought Equity Motion, Inc., and has signed a multi-year contract extension. For the last five years, Thought Equity has been the licensor for archival NCAA video. Besides continuing that, the NCAA has chosen to expand its work with Thought Equity by using the company's Platform Services to support video applications that rely on rich metadata and broadband delivery with the goal of improving accessibility for NCAA members and fans.

Thought Equity will add media services for the NCAA such as content capture and archived feeds in order to future-proof the NCAA's content for the next generation of computing technology. It will work to grow the value of the NCAA's archival rights and develop new rights windows for the NCAA and its partners.

As part of the agreement, Thought Equity will expand the coverage of the NCAA Vault, a video publishing model that it launched in March of this year. The Vault currently includes NCAA Division 1 men's basketball championship games from the past decade. The expansion will add more Division 1 men's basketball championship games, as well as other NCAA championship events, such as Division 1 women's basketball, division 1 baseball, and division 1 wrestling.

"Since 2005, Thought Equity Motion has increased the value of our content by successfully preserving and making accessible the rich history of NCAA championships," says Greg Shaheen, the NCAA's interim executive vice president for championships and business strategy. "Over the course of our relationship, Thought Equity Motion's rights development and licensing services have developed new value in opportunities such as the NCAA Vault. Additionally, the company's platform technology has made our historic footage of NCAA championship events across 23 college sports more accessible to fans, broadcasters, producers, and publishers."
