MidStream Gets New CEO

Start-up server company, MidStream Technologies (www.midstream.com), announced that Edward L. Huguez has joined the company as president and chief executive officer, effective immediately.

Huguez was most recently senior vice president of Akamai, after it acquired INTERVU last year. At INTERVU, Huguez was the COO, where he often prophesized for the company.

Former MidStream president, Richard Oesterreicher, will continue to serve as CTO and chairman of the board.

"Ed's recognized leadership, acquisition and financial skills are in extremely high demand today," said Oesterreicher. "His experience with groundbreaking companies in the media sector is diverse and unparalleled. We consider this a coup for MidStream as we introduce the world's first dedicated streaming media appliance later this year.''

MidStream said it is releasing a streaming appliance later this year that can allegedly delivery over 16,000 simultaneous broadband streams, in a variety of formats.

"The opportunity to work with the company at the forefront of digital video delivery solutions is extremely exciting for me personally and professionally," said Huguez.

Last May, MidStream received $4.75 million in financing from Polaris Venture Partners, ARCH Venture Partners and Cascadia Capital Partners, among others.
