Madge.web and Engage to Offer Streamed Advertising Service

Madge.web a subsidiary of Madge Networks (http://www.madge.com), made a deal with Engage Technologies ( http://www.engage.com) (a CMGI-owned online marketer) to offer Internet targeted banner ads and rich media advertising over the Madge Broadcast Network (MBN).

MBN, which is powered by RealNetworks, will combine advertising management solutions from Engage with the European oriented streaming media network from Madge.web.

Web broadcasters can use the service to outsource the management and delivery of their streamed advertising to the MBN and Engage.

With the MBN/Engage service, customers will view the ads through RealPlayer and will run either as a rotating banner ad or will be inserted into the Real media stream.

Peter Chaplin, vice president international at Engage, commented: "There is enormous revenue opportunity out there for selling streamed and banner advertising for Internet broadcasts. Our advanced targeting capabilities will enable advertisers to place their ads as part of streamed programs to reach precise online audiences. They will also be able to benefit from the over 42 million anonymous profiles of web users contained in our Engage Knowledge database. Together with Madge.web we can offer the complete solution for streamed advertising."

Robert Madge, chief executive officer at Madge.web commented: "With MBN we are bringing an advanced online broadcast service to our customers. The combined strengths of our MBN media streaming services and Engage mean we are building complete and high quality Internet broadcast services for the media industry."

MBN is scheduled to go live in the second quarter of 2000.
