Facebook Opens Live Video Streaming to All Verified Accounts

Facebook is once again expanding access to its Periscope-like live video streaming feature. Two weeks back, it began rolling it out to users on iOS devices. Now, it's made live streaming available to all verified accounts. Live video is still limited to iOS devices.

Brands, businesses, and sports teams are able to get verified Facebook accounts. In a blog post, Facebook says that verified account holders who want to go live should go to their Facebook page on an iOS device, click Publish, choose Live Video, and then write a description. During the stream, they'll see the number of viewers and their names. At completion, the live stream will automatically be published to the account's timeline where it can be viewed on-demand.

Anyone who likes a verified Facebook page will get a notification when that account streams live video. Facebook has created a list of best practices for live video streaming.

In related news, Facebook is also testing a "click for more" feature on the desktop. Some desktop users now see those words along the bottom of videos. Clicking on them or anywhere else in the video opens a new screen that shows a large view of the video with a playlist of related videos underneath.
