Digital Origin Offers Free DV Editing Software

Free Internet access, free DSL, now FreeDV, free digital video editing software.

Digital Origin ( http://www.digitalorigin.com) announced it was making available a free entry-level digital video editor for Windows users called FreeDV.

"Our goal is simple," said Tom Fristoe, Digital Origin's vice president of marketing. "We want to bring digital movie-making to the masses. We want to expose people to the perfect quality of DV and drive demand for tools that can turn basic, chronological shots of the kids' soccer game or the company sales event into fun, watchable and interesting stories."

FreeDV is modeled after Digital Origin's IntroDV and requires the use of a DV (digital video) camera.

FreeDV can be downloaded from www.icanstream.com, a website announced today and created by companies including Digital Origin, Media 100, Canon, Beatnik, Terran, Wired and Digital Fridge as a one-stop shop on web video.

Upgrades to IntroDV software is $79, which gives additional capabilities like more titling options, special effects, compression capabilities, and the ability to save movies to tape.
