Video sharing site Dailymotion announced today it has signed a multiyear agreement to be the primary video player for the NBA's development league, known as the G League. The league will use Dailymotion's player to distribute video on all its properties. The agreement will also see Dailymotion stream on-demand video from G League teams, providing video from over 1,300 games over two seasons. The agreement does not include any live streaming. Dailymotion didn't disclose the price of the agreement.

Dailymotion says its technology will let the league develop new audiences by using the site's advanced recommendation engine. It will promote videos to viewers based on their preferences and interests with the goal of creating dedicated fans.

"Viewership of the NBA G League has been growing significantly both in the U.S. and almost half outside," says Damon Bethel, vice president of content, America, for Dailymotion. "Through this new partnership we are expecting growth to increase even more—which is perfect for Dailymotion's global platform and the NBA and NBA G League’s international ambitions."

Dailymotion is building a library of premium content, having previously signed agreements with CBS, Fox Deportes, and Stadium.

This partnership will help the NBA G League expand its fan base in the U.S. and around the world, agrees league president Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
