Brightcove Debuts Perform Platform for Creating Video Players
Video cloud services company Brightcove has launched Perform, a platform for creating and managing fast and customizable video players. The platform combines Brightcove's HTML5-first player with management APIs and performance optimization tools. It supports HLS across devices, integrated analytics, content protection, and ad insertion (both server-side and client-side). David Mendels, Brightcove's CEO, calls it an enterprise-grade player in a standalone service, and says his company is the first to offer such a platform.
Build to be developer-friendly, Perform integrates with custom workflows and connects to Brightcove's Zencoder transcoding and Once ad platform.
"The plugin architecture, speed, scale, and playback technology integrated in Perform is remarkable and will help video publishers increase their speed to market and engage their audiences on a global scale," Mendels says.
Video marketers can use Brightcove to create buzz around an online event, then stream it to viewers inside or outside the company, all without IT support.
A variety of improvements let publishers better manage and monetize their content on desktops, mobile devices, and set-top boxes.
With Brightcove Gallery, video marketers can use templates and simple tools to launch video-driven microsites in minutes.
By adding support for broadcast video formats to Zencoder, Brightcove aims to help more organizations move to cloud workflows.
Unicorn's Once technology gives Brightcove an end-to-end solution for mobile and ad insertion, with an eye towards getting around the increasingly prevalent use of ad blockers
