Streaming Media Site of The Week

In the midpoint of last century, Cowboys were like Mobsters are today: EVERYWHERE. You could hardly watch a movie or a television show without seeing one, and then without warning they all faded away. (If only we could be so lucky with the Sopranos.)

Westerns.com brings back all those shoot'em up cinematic classics of yore. So now instead of catching the late, late show or plunking down 3 bucks at Blockbuster, you can view them any time on your computer. The site offers a massive selection of 91 classic films. Titles range from Annie Oakley to Wildcat. This week's feature is "SKY KING" a 1951 TV western staring Kirby Grant as Sky King and Gloria Winters as Penny. All the movies on westerns.com are encoded for Windows Media Player only. The audio and video quality are excellent, even for such old footage.

Westerns.com also has a vast index of pure audio content. This consists of western theme songs and melodies under the category of "Sounds". Some of the other important sections on the site are: "Images" which contains a whole slew of screen captures (Pictures) from the Westerns.com film library, and "Stars" where you can find complete biographies and filmographies on all the old heroes and heroines.
