Rivercast – a corporate profile

Working with streaming media from the very beginning, Founder, President and CEO John Sheridan Reed is the visionary behind Rivercast, an Internet broadcasting company located in Malmö, Sweden (now just a bridge away from Copenhagen). The main business of Rivercast is delivering live and on-demand Internet streaming broadcasts, providing innovative Intra/Internet communications, and audio/video web site solutions.

Rivercast is a modest sized company but through networking has the resources of over 55 people working in film, media, graphics, and website design. Also, Rivercast recently added to its staff Vice President Robert A. Cook and Streaming Technician Christian van Dyck. To promote a mutually beneficial internship program provided by IT schools Mackmeckarna and Masters of Media, Rivercast engages students who are learning the latest and greatest in streaming, communication and web site enhancement technologies and give the student interns an opportunity to apply what they learn to the real world environment.

As a leading company in streaming media, Rivercast was recently engaged by INTERVU and successfully captured a satellite feed of eye surgery from Milan, Italy, and then streamed the event to doctors worldwide who called in with questions and comments to make it a remarkably interactive event. The event was the Video Refrattiva 2000 and can be seen on-demand for three months at http://www.specialtymd.com.

Rivercast would like to take this opportunity to introduce one of our exciting new services called RiverTalk. This innovative service allows people to post an audio message on the Internet by using a normal telephone to call up Rivercast's RiverTalk server number. Web site visitors can listen to the message by clicking a link to the web page.
This service will be in use April 3rd by Rivercast client Liber AB, Sweden's largest book publisher, as an exciting new feature that allows authors to post a message about themselves and their books. Web site visitors can click on a particular book displayed on the web site and hear the author's message. The next phase of the project will be to have audio and video of the authors available to web site book browsers. If you would like to check out this excellent Rivercast service, please visit http://www.ebokhandeln.com.

Another major project that Rivercast has been working on night and day is the RiverHouse project, with the new name to be released soon. This project is going to revolutionize the way people look at the world and other cultures. It will be a portal to the lives and ways of people in far away places that some will never get to visit in person. The grand launch of this project is close at hand.
