Adobe Story Leaves Creative Suite Behind

Strong videos start with strong writing, and if your team collaborates to write scripts for online videos, you should know what's going on with Adobe Story.

Story is Adobe's script-creation tool, and it helps even new writers create scripts with correct formatting. While Story was introduced with Adobe Creative Suite 5, you won't find it in the new Adobe Creative Suite 6. You can find it online, however, and for free.

Story now exists in two versions: as Adobe Story Free, an online tool, and Adobe Story Plus, a paid version that offers integrated scheduling and scriptwriting. If you're working on your own, the free edition is a bargain. It formats as you type, includes script templates, and lets you access your scripts from an iPhone.

If you're working on a team, look to Adobe Story Plus. It lets you collaborate with team members, work offline, and assign roles. It also includes project management and scheduling tools that help turn a finished script into a finished video.

The free version is available now. If you want the collaborative paid version, you'll need to wait a bit. Adobe will soon launch Creative Cloud, a subscription service that lets people access Adobe tools for one monthly price. Story Plus will be available on Creative Cloud, which will coast $49.99 with a one-year commitment.

If that's too rich, Story Plus will also be available as a standalone subscription. Adobe isn't saying yet what the monthly fee will be.
