Updated Teradek Cube with Zixi Now Available

Updated Firmware Increases Available Zixi Bandwidth

Teradek LLC ( and Zixi LLC ( announced today that new firmware is available for Teradek’s Cube encoders and decoders that substantially increases throughput when using Zixi. Starting with firmware version 6.2.4, current and new Cube users will be able use Zixi to stream at up to 8 Mbits/second when streaming to Zixi Broadcaster and up to 4.5 Mbits/second when streaming directly to a Cube decoder when using Cube’s built-in Ethernet port. In addition, users may now take advantage of Cube’s LCD screen for monitoring Cube connectivity and Cube’s USB port for connectivity while streaming with Zixi.

Studio-quality Internet streaming on the go
Compact and lightweight, Teradek Cube is the smallest and most durable camera-top HD encoder on the market. Built like a tank, Cube offers high-profile H.264 compression; a lithium-ion battery and flexible inputs and outputs, including HD-DSI and HDMI and an OLED display. 

Zixi streaming brings guaranteed quality-of-service for studio-quality video streaming between a Cube encoder and decoder pair or between a Cube encoder and Zixi Broadcaster. Zixi Broadcaster, available as a cloud service, is a unified video streaming hub for professional contribution and distribution. Zixi Broadcaster supports content delivery network (CDN) ingest, live or on-demand streaming to computers, mobile devices and set-top boxes (STBs) for IPTV or over-the-top (OTT) applications.

Availability, and pricing

Teradek Cube firmware 6.2.4 is available today at Current Cube users can download the update for free. Cubes ordered after today will have the new firmware pre-installed. 

A perpetual license to enable Zixi on a single Cube encoder/decoder pair is $1000. Streaming to Zixi Broadcaster for ingest and multi-point distribution begins at $130 per megabit per month. Purchase Zixi licenses for Cube at Email to sign up for Zixi Broadcaster streaming.
