Sorenson Media Opens London Office in Response to Strong Global Demand; Digital Media Veteran Mark Lawson to Head

- Lawson to Lead Sorenson Media’s First European Office - Company’s Innovative Encoding Solutions in High Demand from International Clientele, with London as Top City Worldwide; Europe Generating 30 percent of Company’s Online Revenue

SAN DIEGO and LONDON(26 Apr 2011)

Sorenson Media today announced that Mark Lawson will be joining the company’s sales team, heading sales efforts in Europe from the new office in London, UK. With offices in San Diego, Salt Lake City and Los Angeles, the company’s London base marks the first Sorenson Media office in Europe, establishing an even greater sales presence for the digital media solutions company in the UK and countries across Europe.

As consumer demand expands globally, Europe has become a thriving market for Sorenson Media’s high quality video encoding and publishing solutions. Despite not having local presence until now, the city of London beats New York City as the company’s No. 1 online revenue generator worldwide, and Europe as a whole generates 30 percent of Sorenson Media’s online revenue.

Lawson has significant global experience in management, sales and leadership, ranging from generating revenue for start-ups to securing contracts for successful, established organizations.  Prior to accepting his post at Sorenson Media, Lawson worked with DVBLogic as vice president of sales, driving platform wins in the IPTV space. Before DVBLogic, Lawson headed content and studio relations for Phillips, securing site-licensing contracts with Warner Bros, Sony Pictures, Sony BMG and Universal Music Group and helping to launch digital content watermarking company Civolution (spun out of Philips in 2008). Lawson has also been a successful sales leader with DivX, HomeMedia Networks, Nortel and others.
