Norsk today announced three new products — Norsk Playout, Norsk Probe, and Norsk Remote Commentary — extending the company's live video infrastructure platform into channel playout and end-to-end quality monitoring, as well as expanding Norsk Studio’s capabilities in remote production. The company is also introducing Norsk Turnkey, where Norsk Studio engineers build custom live video workflows to a customer's exact specifications. All will debut at IBC 2026, Stand 5.A53.

Each product is built on the same foundation: 15 years of experience building high-availability video processing and distribution platforms, where fault tolerance is foundational rather than bolted on. All three are fully containerised, run on any infrastructure — on-premise, cloud, or hybrid — and treat API, CLI, and UI as first-class interfaces, so operators, engineers, and automation systems can all work with them natively.

Norsk Playout: Broadcast reliability at any scale, from one channel to hundreds

Norsk Playout is software-defined playout that handles the full demands of scheduling and delivering live and file-based content — whether running established linear channels, launching seasonal or event-based services, or operating high volumes of FAST, AVOD, SVOD, and enterprise channels. Proven deployment templates come pre-configured with the operational capabilities broadcasters rely on, so customers start from a complete, production-ready environment and can rapidly go live.

Beyond the fundamentals such as scheduling, ingest, normalisation, delivery, graphics, overlays, and advertising integration, Norsk Playout makes every live stream instantly available for time-shifted playout through TAMS-native integration, eliminates processing overhead between pipeline stages with MXL zero-copy media transfer, and enables schedule alerting, ad break detection, and content-aware switching.

Norsk Remote Commentary: Full production control from a browser

Norsk Remote Commentary enables commentators to call into live events by video and audio from anywhere. No specialist hardware and nothing to ship or maintain. Directors control the entire production from a web interface: multitrack audio mixing for multi-language output, native mix-minus for every commentator, built-in talkback, and picture-in-picture layouts that put faces on screen.

Each event runs from a configurable template covering the inputs, languages, and audio routing a production needs, so an event can scale from a single commentator to a full multi-language international event without engineering support or starting from scratch. The same browser-based model extends naturally to e-sports and to podcast producers moving from audio-only to video-forward formats.

Norsk Probe: Everything a hardware probe does, everywhere software can run

Norsk Probe is a software probe that delivers the full monitoring capability broadcasters expect from traditional hardware probes and monitors (ETR 101-290 transport stream compliance, loudness monitoring, black-frame, freeze-frame, and colour-bar detection, packet loss and decode errors, and SCTE-35 marker logging) deployable at any point in the distribution chain, on-premise or in the cloud. An automated penalty box surfaces failing streams the moment thresholds are breached, alerts problems in real time with full event logging, and a rolling clip buffer lets operators jump straight to the moment a problem was raised and export it as evidence. Because it deploys alongside existing monitoring with no changes to the live signal path, operations teams can evaluate it with zero operational risk.

Norsk Probe also supports MQA (CMSD-MQA, SVTA2128), the industry standard Norsk co-developed with Akamai, Touchstream, G&L Systemhaus, and YouTube, dramatically reducing monitoring load and cost. Norsk's AI-based, no-reference quality assessment scores picture quality once, near the source, and writes the score into the stream itself,  so every downstream system can read it rather than re-analyse the content, and failover can be triggered by actual picture degradation before a viewer ever sees a problem.

Norsk Turnkey: Custom workflows, delivered and supported

Norsk Turnkey is an offering in which the same engineers who build Norsk Studio design, build, and integrate custom live video workflows to a customer's exact specification.
