Magnify.net to Power Singularity Summit 2011 / New York City

New York(11 Oct 2011)

For two days, some of the world's leading thinkers will gather in NYC to explore the changing roles of humans and machines -- with a deep exploration of IBM's Watson computer and its recent "Jeopardy!" win.

Responding to Watson's victory, leading computer scientist Ray Kurzweil said, "Watson is a stunning example of the growing ability of computers to successfully invade this supposedly unique attribute of human intelligence." Kurzweil is known for predicting computers whose conversations will be indistinguishable from people by 2029.

It is what Kurzweil and others now call the Singularity.

Magnify.net is proud to have been selected to power Video Curation of the Summit -- providing a powerful knowledge gathering technology to the event and its participants.

"We believe this is an important and exciting conversation," said Magnify.net CEO Steven Rosenbaum. "To be able to help the summit provide context to its attendees, and to share the digital knowledge captured at the event with the wider web are two roles we're very glad to provide," said Rosenbaum.

The Singularity Summit 2011 will be a TED-style event, gathering innovators from science, industry, and the public. The Summit 2011 will take place on October 15th and 16th and feature speakers on robotics, nanotechnology, biotechnology, futurism, and other cutting-edge technologies, and is the only conference to focus on the technological Singularity.

Other speakers include MIT cosmologist Max Tegmark, Allen Brain Institute chief scientist Christof Koch, co-founder of Skype Jaan Tallinn, robotics professors James McLurkin and Robin Murphy, Bionic Builders host Casey Pieretti, the MIT Media Lab's Riley Crane, MIT polymath Alexander Wissner-Gross, filmmaker Jason Silva, and Singularity Institute artificial intelligence researcher Eliezer Yudkowsky.
