Beverly Hills, CA(08 Mar 2016)
FilmOn TV Networks announced today the launch of MMA Now TV, a free channel, wholly focused on the world’s fastest growing sport, Mixed Martial Arts. The announcement was made by FilmOn TV CEO Alki David and the channel’s executive/partner, David Kano. MMA Now TV on FilmOn.com will produce live content and original programming—involving stars like UFC 196’s Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, Holly Holm, Miesha Tate and more. Content will include documentaries, how-tos, reality shows and talk shows. The first live event brings audiences right into fight week for UFC 196 with open workouts, interviews, weigh ins and post fight conferences—with Virtual Reality 360° access optional.
The channel is free at filmon.com/mmanow/tv and select programs and events will also air on FilmOn’s Dish Network and Sky Europe channel FOTV.
“I have followed MMA for a decade and I saw an opening for a new kind of programming to serve the true fans,” said Alki David, CEO of FilmOn TV Networks. “When I met David Kano, with his extensive knowledge of the sport, incredible rapport with the fighters and broad entertainment industry experience, I knew we had the man with balls enough to lead our first original MMA channel.”
The channel was created by Kim Hurwitz, Chief Content Officer and Carl Dawson, Chief Marketing Officer along with Kano, who will act as executive/partner and host of many of MMA Now TV’s shows.
Original programming on the channel will include:
MMA Now Live—coverage from events surrounding major fights including interviews, weigh-ins and other behind the scenes material.
MMA 90210—A weekly show with MMA expert David Kano and celebrity and fighter co-hosts to talk all things from analysis and predictions, to MMA matchups to movies, music and healthy food.
Fight Kitchen—A weekly reality show to feature famous fighters preparing their favorite foods at home –recipe included. Think: MTV Cribs meets Anthony Bourdain meets Iron Chef).
More Than a Team: A documentary series featuring UFC stars Nick Diaz, Nate Diaz, Gilbert Melendez, Yancy Mediro, Jake Shields, Jessica Penne and others, training, on the UFC Fighter Bus, backstage and beyond in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Berlin, and Honolulu.
In addition MMA Now will produce an original scripted series set in the fast-paced world of MMA, with cameos from fighters and real life situations in the spirit of Entourage and Ballers.
FilmOn TV Networks is not new to the world of martial arts. The massive streaming TV site offers two dozen channels of boxing, Kung Fu, Karate and other fighting sports. It also holds the exclusive English language license to air The Legend of Bruce Lee—the award winning, thirty part, bio-drama made in China. FilmOn also recently launched two boxing themed channels with 10-time world champion Oscar de La Hoya: The Ring, featuring live weekly fights including L.A. Fight Club, and Golden Boy Channel, featuring De La Hoya’s classic fights.
FilmOn also recently launched the sports talk show Sports Haters with host Kato Kaelin.
