Clicker Launches Clicker.tv Beta

Visually-Rich Application Brings Clicker's Internet Programming Guide to the Big Screen

New York(19 May 2010)

Clicker, the complete programming guide for Internet television, today announced the beta launch of Clicker.tv. Debuting on stage this morning during the opening keynote of the Google I/O Conference, Clicker.tv offers a new, interactive interface for Clicker optimized for the 10-foot viewing experience. With Clicker.tv, users can now navigate Clicker's programming guide using just their keyboard's arrow keys or a configured remote to quickly find and watch online programming.

While having the sleek look, feel and performance of a downloadable application, Clicker.tv works entirely in the browser, without any kind of download, plug-in or external device. This also allows for the open navigation of programs across the entire Internet, rather than confining users to a narrow list of available shows provided by a device or service.

"Clicker.tv is a breakthrough in more ways than one," said Jim Lanzone, CEO of Clicker. "On one hand, we've created a beautiful new way for our users to navigate Internet TV in the 10-foot experience, and on the other, our engineers have produced a unique application that seems like something you'd have to download, but is actually ‘just' a website. It's all happening inside the browser."

Clicker.tv encompasses the full range of features available on Clicker.com, including an index of more than 650,000 complete episodes from over 10,000 shows in more than 1,400 categories, as well as more than 30,000 movies, and 80,000 music videos. Clicker.tv users can also access Clicker.com's full Playlist functionality, giving them the ability to save shows and set up notifications for new episodes as they become available online.

The new Clicker.tv interface enables easy access to Clicker's full line of features:

  • Home: Clicker.tv's homepage features trending shows and episodes popular with Clicker users, plus new ones that have just come online with click-to-watch functionality.
  • Search: To search on Clicker.tv, users navigating the guide on a configured remote can use the arrow keys to enter the name of a show or movie, title of an episode, or name of a specific topic. Clicker.tv will then offer auto-complete suggestions from all media types. Users on a keyboard can just start typing, from anywhere on the page.
  • Categories: Clicker catalogs TV, Web, Music and Film content in more than 1,400 categories. On Clicker.tv, users can browse categories to find topical content across all media types simply by using their arrow keys to scroll.
  • Media Type: Users can also browse within media types using the TV, Web, Music and Movies icons. For example, if a user is only interested in Web Originals, they can navigate to the Web icon where they'll be able to sort by title, popularity or airdate, and even browse by topical "themes" such as family-friendly, dark comedy or social issues.
  • Playlists: Clicker.tv provides users with the ability to create playlists of their favorite shows for later viewing, and also set up notifications for when new content comes online, just as they do on Clicker.com.

Clicker.tv Specs:
Browsers: Optimized for Chrome, Clicker.tv is also accessible in Firefox (version 3.6 and up), Safari (version 4.0 and up), and IE (version 8 and up).
