CDN77 reaches the 50 Tbps network capacity milestone and plans massive adoption of 400G technology

CDN77, a global provider of content delivery network services, announced that it has reached the 50 Tbps network capacity milestone and plans a massive adoption of 400G network technology in 2021.

London, United Kingdom(28 Jan 2021)

“Reaching 50 Tbps network capacity is an important milestone that strengthens our position as one of the leading global CDN services providers. But we’re certainly not stopping there. 2021 will be even more exciting,” says the company's CEO Zdenek Cendra.

Earlier this month, CDN77 also registered a traffic peak exceeding 25 Tbps for the first time. “As many new segments had to switch to online due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, demand for CDN services has increased considerably. From that point of view, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic was certainly a big demand booster in 2020. In the coming year, we’re expecting a further increase. And we’re definitely ready,” states Cendra.

CDN77’s long-term strategy lies in building a network with powerful, strategically located, and well-connected points of presence. In 2020, the company opened 9 new PoPs which have strengthened their presence in South America, North America, Europe, and Asia.

In addition to increasing their network’s capacity, CDN77 put a strong focus on expanding their private backbone and extending connectivity options by connecting with multiple Tier 1 providers and adding new direct connections. As a result, they are able to ensure even higher stability, the lowest possible latency, and cache hit ratio reaching 97%.

What’s next for CDN77? According to Cendra, 2021 will be all about the adoption of new network technologies, especially the 400G Ethernet. “By adopting the 400G technology in all of our core locations, we’ll be able to decrease transport costs, increase our network’s capacity and enhance the performance even further while staying cost-competitive within the CDN market,” adds Cendra.
