Anvato's TV Everywhere Platform Prepares Broadcasters for FCC Accessibility Deadline

Full-Featured Captioning Capabilities for Live, Long- & Short-Form Content Enables Broadcasters to Meet All FCC Accessibility Requirements Far Ahead of Deadline

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.(06 Aug 2014)

Anvato, the complete TV Everywhere platform provider, today announced that its turnkey video platform is fully compliant with the latest FCC closed-captioning mandates for IP-delivered content per the agency's July 11th ruling regarding online broadcast of short-form clips that aired on television. Anvato's technology makes multi-language captions compatible with both desktop and mobile devices, as well as customizable and searchable in the video player.

FCC compliant closed captioning has been available to TV broadcasters using Anvato's robust video and metadata content platform since the passing of the 21st Century Communications and Video Accessibility Act of 2010. The law mandates online content that aired on TV must have closed captions, along with a prescribed set of user-interface tools within the player that enables the viewer to customize the text display.

Using a combination of in-band and out-of-band ingest methods, all live and on-demand content managed in the Anvato platform can have multi-language captioning data. Anvato's flexible use of on-premises and cloud resources enable broadcasters to caption back-catalog content for compliance with the regulation that begins phasing in Jan. 1, 2016. In addition, Anvato's multi-device players and SDKs enable a consistent and easy-to-use captioning experience on desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

The Anvato platform is the most powerful closed-captioning solution on the market, providing an end-to-end solution that supports more than 180 languages and all the popular text file formats. When a file for a specific language is added to the media content platform, the language instantly becomes available for users to select in the player's closed caption menu.

In addition, Anvato's players support in-player search of captioning data, allowing viewers to easily find and access their favorite scenes in seconds using a simple keyword search.

"As a market leader in implementing these new mandates, Anvato has been—and will continue to stay—a step ahead of the latest requirements to ensure our customers have the most advanced technology, not only for compliance but also to maintain their competitive edge," said Alper Turgut, president and CEO of Anvato. "We understand how important this issue is for our customers, and we will continue to monitor and proactively adjust for any updates to FCC standards."
