AJA Announces BRIDGE LIVE 12G-4
New IP video workflow solution introduces multi-channel UltraHD support, with up to four channels of bi-directional 12G-SDI I/O for flexible encoding, decoding, and transcoding
Grass Valley, California(04 Sep 2025)
Grass Valley, CA (September 4, 2025) – AJA Video Systems announced BRIDGE LIVE 12G-4, a high-density IP workflow solution for synchronous, multi-channel video transport and contribution, backhaul, direct-to-audience streaming, remote production, and distribution encoding. Offering 4x BNC bi-directional 12G-SDI ports in a compact 1RU enclosure, BRIDGE LIVE 12G-4 unlocks cost-efficient multi-camera/source UltraHD IP video, decreasing per-channel video costs. It also enables broadcast, production, and AV professionals to easily convert video between SDI and industry-standard IP video codecs and protocols, such as H.264, H.265, NDI, SRT, RTMP, and HLS, addressing essential encoding, decoding, and transcoding needs across live video environments. BRIDGE LIVE 12G-4 will be demoed at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) September 12-15, 2025, at the AJA Stand (7.B19).
“Increased demand for higher quality video is creating new media workflow challenges, given all the different SDI and IP equipment in use, and various deliverables. BRIDGE LIVE has proven its value in helping production professionals seamlessly navigate these complexities, and the new BRIDGE LIVE 12G-4 builds on that core functionality,” said AJA President Nick Rashby. “It provides the video transport and encoding, decoding, and transcoding capabilities that professionals need most today in the field, now with support for multi-camera UltraHD video.”
Developed in partnership with the streaming experts at Comprimato, BRIDGE LIVE 12G-4 supports a range of live production, remote workflow, multi-camera podcast, web-based programming, security and surveillance, and over-the-top (OTT) content delivery needs. It enables secure, reliable multi-channel video backhaul over the public internet, offering a cost-efficient alternative to satellite, dedicated lines, or fiber networks. Professionals can also leverage the device for multi-camera streaming to content delivery networks, such as YouTube Live, Facebook Live, and Twitch, or for encoding produced video for high quality IPTV and OTT distribution.
BRIDGE LIVE 12G-4 can create adaptive bitrate channels directly from SDI sources, like H.264 or HEVC, for hand-off with ABR ladder profiles encoding. Additionally, it can serve SDI video encoding for live productions, where video is delivered as the intended or intermediate format, like H.264/5, 4:2:0. This allows telco, IPTV, and cable operators to leverage the output for further processing or direct streaming to their networks.
AJA BRIDGE LIVE 12G-4 feature highlights include:
- Pure IP transcode capabilitylets users convert between any IP codec, such as NDI to/from H.264, with SRT or HLS encapsulation.
- 4x bi-directional 12G-SDIports enable multiple UltraHD encodes and decodes at once.
- Bi-directional NDI-SDI stream conversionallows professionals to receive NDI (Full and HX) and transcode to IP video streams (i.e., H.265, H.265) and vice versa. They can also integrate remote NDI and non-NDI equipment/facilities via RTP, UDP, or SRT and tap directly into the NDI network for a conduit to content delivery networks (CDNs) or other delivery mechanisms.
- Synchronous multi-channel/multi-system transport enables the backhaul of multiple SDI sources from remote locations, ensuring they arrive at the destination in the exact same timing as they left. SDI outputs are aligned and genlocked, facilitating seamless production switching, multi-cam recording, and other workflows that require live sources to arrive in time.
- HLS input and output allow users to deliver content to a CDN or for consumption on popular devices and software, such as iOS, iPadOS, and/or tvOS.
- A video preview feature offers visual confirmation that the SDI input/content for encoding operations is correct. It gives operators basic confidence while providing customers who cannot “go live” to check their content an added peace of mind.
