3Crowd Adds Powerful DNS Support to CrowdDirector

3Crowd Technologies today announced the addition of DNS support for CrowdDirector, 3Crowd’s traffic management system.

San Mateo, CA(15 Sep 2010)

3Crowd Technologies, the services company that is the future of content delivery, today announced the addition of DNS support for CrowdDirector, 3Crowd's traffic management system. This added functionality provides the ability to load balance any type of Internet service with increased accuracy.

Content publishers now can build sets of rules based on geography, bandwidth usage, performance, price, availability and failover management and CrowdDirector will load balance requests based on these requirements. With added DNS support, content publishers can extend the use of CrowdDirector to ensure content is being delivered to the appropriate global locations and ensure that delivery networks, elastic computing clouds, or single hosted servers are operating within tolerance and are receiving the proper types of traffic.

Unlike older, costly DNS-based systems, 3Crowd does not require the hosting of customers' domains.  Additionally the system has new control metrics, easy to configure graphical rule-sets, and failover capability, which has never existed before.

"Having the ability to easily geo locate traffic and load balance content accordingly adds new levels of quality-of-service and control to CrowdDirector, which is paramount for our customers." said Barrett Lyon, Co-Founder and CEO, 3Crowd Technologies. "With the addition of this powerful DNS feature set, we see CrowdDirector as the foundation for some pretty cool 3Crowd innovations in the near future."

CrowdDirector gives content publishers real-time control of geographic-specific network traffic to guarantee performance. Content publishers can choose exactly the resources that will be managed by the CrowdDirector system and can deploy the system in minutes, without any hardware requirements. As part of this solution, 3Crowd customers receive statistics, real-time analysis, and a global view on how to better optimize the delivery of content all from an easy-to-use dashboard.

With a roster of customers, that include several industry leading content and software publishers, 3Crowd and CrowdDirector are also earning industry recognition. Today, the company is also announcing that CrowdDirector has been recognized by Streaming Media Magazine as part of the magazine's Readers' Choice Awards. CrowdDirector received a nomination in the Best Streaming Innovation 2010 category.

Voting for the Streaming Media Magazine Readers' Choice awards is open until October 1, 2010, at which point, the top three nominees in each category will be chosen. Winners will receive awards at a reception at Streaming Media West in Los Angeles on November 2, 2010. To vote, please visit: http://www.streamingmedia.com/ReadersChoice/2010/Vote.aspx.
