WebM

A video compression codec created by On2 Technologies (as VP8), purchased by Google and then open-sourced, first under a semi-restrictive license and then under a fully open-source license. WebM has the support of Mozilla (makers of the Firefox browser), Opera, Google and a number of encoder/transcoder product manufacturers. WebM is also used on YouTube.
