MPEG-2 PSIP

Program System Information Protocol is a protocol whereby metadata and broadcast information about programs transmitted in either MPEG-2 Transport or Program Streams can be sent alongside the appropriate program or transport stream. Defining virtual channels and content ratings, PSIP is used in DTV and ATSC digital television transmission systems so that viewers can select what to watch by title and description.
